FIRST & FINAL SALE IN 40 YEARS

Sale hours are Monday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday from noon to 5 pm.

Over the past four decades, famed Houston gallerist Ron Gremillion has helped steer countless clients to thoughtful and inspiring acquisitions from an array of local, national and global artists – both emerging and notable. During that time, he built an extensive inventory for the gallery and significantly expanded his private collection. With retirement plans hatched during the height of the pandemic, the gallery quietly closed last year. In that time, Gremillion has been slowly cataloging and rediscovering a literal treasure trove of original paintings, prints and sculpture stored in every nook and cranny of the sprawling compound at 2501 Sunset Boulevard just east of Kirby.

Ready to let the past and these beautiful objects go, Gremillion & Co. Fine Art will launch its first and final sale in over forty years of business beginning December 3 and running through the month of March.  The assemblage of approximately 500, mostly modern-leaning pieces reflects Gremillion’s passion for introducing patrons in a wide range of income levels to meaningful, quality art at an equally wide swath of price points. As such, specially priced well below comparable pieces, sale offerings will span from just $200 to nearly $200,000.

Art will cover every wall of the original, two-story gallery building, and five, first floor offices are each being repurposed as intimate single-artist exhibition spaces. Given the sheer volume, however, only about half of the pieces will be on display at one time, and they will rotate over the course of the sale, creating another reason to revisit.

Helping to bring order to the undertaking, while also serving as a key source of intel on the dozens of artists that will be featured during the event, is guest curator Elise Arnoult Miller of Houston-based Arnoult Fine Art Consulting. Art Advisor and industry veteran with more than two decades of experience
in the art world, she is a certified appraiser, a member of the Association of Women Art Dealers, serves on the Advisory Board of PrintMatters Houston and is a Chapter Leader with ArtTable.

The reimagined multipurpose space, which will be renamed Horizon on Sunset, will debut in phases beginning in late spring 2023.
